Meet Dr. Tucker
David I. Tucker, DDS
Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Dr. David Tucker is an integral part of our SAOMSA team. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and has multiple publications. After attending Texas A&M University for undergraduate studies, Dr. Tucker received an Army Health Professions Scholarship in 1999 and graduated cum laude from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2003.
Dr. Tucker was then commissioned as a Captain in US Army and completed his residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 2004. He then went on to attend and complete an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Brooke Army Medical Center from 2005 to 2009.
From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Tucker was the Officer in Charge and Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Fort Benning, GA as well as a Mentor for the General Dentistry Residency Program.
In 2012, Dr. Tucker became the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Research at the US Army Institute of Surgical Research and held the position through 2015. He performed research and published articles in the field of craniofacial battle trauma, burns, scarring, and bone regeneration, all while mentoring residents in the Research department.
Dr. Tucker was also a staff surgeon and residency mentor for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residents at the Combined Military San Antonio Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency.
Family life is very important to Dr. Tucker who loves spending time with 11 and 13 year-old daughters, both of whom are very active in volleyball. He also enjoys running, hunting, fishing, golf, and playing acoustic guitar.
